EPHRAIM—The Snow College men’s soccer team got the crowd roaring during tense overtime play in a game last Friday Oct. 6 against College of Southern Nevada.

The Badgers played against the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7. They won the first game 4-3. But CSN won the Saturday game 3-0.

The Friday game began when sophomore Luis Miguel scored a first goal in the seventh minute, assisted by sophomore Sam BamberLister.

But CSN tied the game in the 10th minute and then moved into the lead when they scored goals in the 14th and 27th minutes. That made the score 3-1 for CSN.

After a tense half hour, Sam BamberLister scored Snow’s second goal, unassisted, at 61 minutes. Sophomore Felipe Novellini brought the game to a tie when he hit the net in the 68th minute.

The minutes following were tense as both teams tried to score while stubbornly trying to keep the other team from scoring. The game went into overtime twice.

Finally, Novellini scored the golden goal in the 106th minute with the assistance of freshman Renan Gomes, giving the Badgers the 4-3 win.

“If the team works together then we can win anything,” Novellini declared after the victory.

Both Snow and CSN made 19 shots each, so Snow was lucky to come out on top.

The game Saturday game did not end so triumphantly. CSN kicked off the scoring with a goal in the 20th minute. Fifteen minutes later, CSN got its second goal and in the 84th minute, its third.

The Badgers failed to score and finished with the loss.

The men compete today against Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) in Rangely. They defeated CNCC in two previous meetings.

The team will play Salt Lake Community College in Ephraim on Saturday. The Badgers played SLCC earlier in the season and came out with one win and one loss.
