Betty Arlene Buchanan

Betty Arlene Buchanan, 85, of Ephraim, passed away July 13, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.

Arlene was born on Feb. 17, 1937 in New Castle, Colorado to Abiel Leonard and Nola Carter Lund. She graduated from Snow College High School in Ephraim. She married her sweetheart, Dean L Buchanan on Aug. 17, 1956 in Ephraim, together they had three children.

Arlene graduated from Cosmetology School in Salt Lake City and enjoyed being a beautician. She later worked for Mountain Fuel in Salt Lake City for over 20 years. Arlene and Dean moved back to Ephraim from Salt Lake in 1996.

Arlene loved caring for and cooking for her family. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally and became known as the candy grandma. She enjoyed assisting Bonnie Nielson at the Golden Skyline Assisted Living, playing cards with the residents.

Arlene is survived by her husband, Dean; children: David (Lane) Buchanan, of Herriman; Pamela Buchanan (David Bogue – partner), of Elko,

Nevada; Michael (Mindee) Buchanan, of Manti; eight grand- children and 13 great-grand- children; brother, Lanny (Sharon) Lund and sister-in-law, Pat Lund. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother; Larry Lund and granddaughter, Susan Wilkinson.

Celebration of life services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Ephraim 9th Ward chapel. Public visitation will be held prior to services starting at 10 a.m. Online condolences and guest- book at http://www.maglebymortuary.com. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
