MILLARD—The boys basketball team of Gunnison Valley High School went 1-1 last week in Region 18 play, earning a tie for second place in the region, by defeating North Sevier 64-55 in overtime and falling to Millard 53-33.

On Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Salina, it took the Gunnison Bulldogs not one, not two, but three overtime periods to finally prevail by nine points over the North Sevier Wolves.

For Gunnison, Parx Bartholomew led all scorers with 18 points, while Wyatt Young had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Isaiah O’Neal had 14 rebounds.

On Friday, Jan. 19, in another away game, the Bulldogs could not slow down the Millard Eagles’ offensive output as the Eagles pulled away after the first quarter to eventually wrap up a 20-point victory.

Young was the leading scorer for the Bulldogs with 11 points.

After last week, Gunnison stands at 4-3 in Region 18 play and is only one game off the pace for first place. The Bulldogs stand in excellent shape to make this year’s playoffs.

The Bulldogs host Enterprise High School tomorrow starting at 7 p.m.
