Dale Lind “Chipper” Whitlock

Dale Lind “Chipper” Whitlock, age 73, of Provo passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 2 at his home in Mayfield.

He was born Aug. 3, 1948 in Gunnison, UT to Dale C and Bessie Bell Whitlock. He was raised in Provo and graduated from Provo High in 1966.  He married Gaylene Christensen and later divorced.

Chip loved his country and served it with great pride. His neighbors have said that faithfully, every day at the same time, you would see Chip out in front of his house reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Chip worked for Geneva Steel from 1975-1998. Once they closed, he went to work for Meadow Gold in Orem, then Blue Bunny Ice Cream in St. George. When he moved to Mayfield, he was employed at CarQuest in Manti. He met many people in his life, and he considered them all good friends. He was a friend to everyone. He would always take the time to listen and would have good heart-to-heart talks with them. He was the most positive, upbeat person. You could always plan on seeing him with a big smile on his face.

He loved living the simple life in Mayfield, where his grandparents once lived. He enjoyed his many rides up 12 Mile Canyon with dear friends and family.

Chip is survived by his siblings Stephen H. (Shiela) Whitlock, George Ross (Pat) Whitlock, Janet (Tim) Williams, Todd F (Lisa) Whitlock; many nieces and nephews who adored him; and his dear friend, Dori Peterson.

A graveside celebration of life will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Mayfield Cemetery, where friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Funeral Directors:  Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com.
