JoAnn Bailey

JoAnn Bailey, age 71, died peacefully in her sleep at Golden Skyline Assisted Living in Ephraim on Oct. 3, 2021.

JoAnn, “Jo,” was born and raised in Ephraim, Utah. She graduated from Manti High School and soon after enlisted in the Army, serving in the Vietnam War.

Anyone who knew Jo knew horses were the love of her life! She was rarely seen without a horse in tow, serving as Miss Sanpete County Sweetheart, breaking and training hundreds of horses, raising racehorses, and winning Showmanship awards on all levels. She enjoyed sharing that love and knowledge with her family and friends and 4H youth all around Sanpete County.

Jo is survived by her two daughters Gina Barnes (Jeffery) and Jen Stime (Phil); siblings Kathy Hemingway, Patsy Titcomb, Jeff Nielson, and Charliene Nielson;  5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Jo was preceded in death by her late husband Dick Bailey; her parents Ray Nielson and Mattie Olson; and siblings Ralph Nielson and Cheryl Thatcher.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service in Ephraim Park Cemetery on Friday October 8th, 2021 at 1pm with a celebration of life gathering to follow. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
