EPHRAIM—The Lady Badgers encountered a disappointing loss last weekend against Salt Lake Community College (SLCC).

Snow battled SLCC on Saturday, Jan. 13, with all their might, and at halftime, Snow had a three-point lead but couldn’t seem to keep it up.

The Lady Badgers ended with a 10-point loss, 62-52.

“Right now we are trying to get the girls to pay attention to the details,” head coach Mike Russel says. “We are trying to teach them that the little things translate into the big things when you do them right.”

Snow’s Sophomore Jazmin Chavez carried her team with 13 rebounds and 10 points. Sophomore Kayla Hugie shared the game-high with Chavez with her own double-figure contribution of 10 points.

SLCC’s Tia Hay scored 28 points for the Lady Bruins, leading her team to their victory.

The Snow College women’s basketball team has won 14 of their 19 games this season.

The Lady Badgers will compete in two games this week, beginning with a home game against Utah State University–Eastern today at 5:30 p.m. in the Horne Activity Center at Snow College in Ephraim.

“We think we have a good chance to win both games this week but we know we have to play well to do so,” Russel says.

They will finish their week by traveling to Rangely, Colo., to battle Colorado Northwestern Community College on Saturday.
