PRICE—Snow College women’s basketball team did nothing but conquer last weekend at the Utah State-Eastern Tournament in Price.
The Lady Badgers competed against the Utah All-Stars on Thursday, Dec. 8, and ended with victory, 75-70. They continued their tournament on Friday, Dec. 9, against Chemeketa Community College with yet another win, 62-55.
In last Thursday’s game, the Utah All-Stars were ahead at halftime by seven points, but the Lady Badgers regained the lead by the end of the third quarter (57-54). Snow bested the Utah All-Stars by two points in the final quarter, finishing in the lead, 75-70.
Snow had lost to the All-Stars during their first game of their season, so the win for Snow was a welcome one.
Four Badgers scored in double digits: Megan Carr with 15 points, Paige Farnsworth with 12 points, followed by Kayla Hugie and Harley Hansen both with 10 points.
Chemeketa Community College fell behind 12 points in the first quarter and tried their hardest at Friday’s game, but it wasn’t good enough to beat the Lady Badgers.
The Lady Badgers were outscored 50-45 in the next three quarters, yet Snow finished the Utah-State Eastern tournament with a 62-55 triumph against Chemeketa.
Hansen led the Lady Badgers with an impressive 19 points, and Jazmin Chavez put in 13 points.
The Lady Badgers have won 12 of their games this season.
After a two-week break, the Snow College women’s basketball team will compete in the Bruce Fleck Classic in Tucson, Ariz. Their first opponent is Cochise College on Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. Next is Tohono O’Odham on Dec. 29 at 11 a.m., followed by Pima Community College on Dec. 30 at 5 p.m.
