Lady Bulldogs beat Maeser Prep,
but lose two region games 26-41, 15-61

GUNNISON—The girls basketball team of Gunnison Valley High School went 0-2 in region play but gained a resounding nonconference victory last week, losing to North Sevier 41-26 and Millard 61-15 but defeating Maeser Prep 52-22.
Gunnison played at home on Tuesday, Jan. 16, and North Sevier jumped out to an early lead and headed into the locker room up by 11 points, 24-13.
But the Lady Bulldogs came roaring back and closed the gap to only four points by the end of the third quarter.
Yet the wheels came off on offense in the fourth quarter as the Lady Bulldogs scored only four more points en route to the 41-26 loss.
Kezzley Winn led the Lady Bulldogs with seven points.
On Thursday, Jan. 18, Gunnison again played at home. The Lady Eagles of Millard blew out the doors in the first quarter, jumping out to a 20-5 lead.
And they did not slow down for the rest of the game either, finishing with a 46-point victory.
Taylor Brackett was the leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with five points.
In still another home game on Friday, Jan. 19, the Lady Bulldogs scored a convincing victory over Maeser Prep, using balanced scoring to prevail.
Three players scored in double figures for Gunnison: Paige King with 14 points (two threes), Katelyn Anderson with 12 (one three) and Jaida King with 10 (two threes).
The Lady Bulldogs travel to Enterprise High School today.
