Lions Club veterans’ dinner
will look different in 2020
11-25-2020
The Fountain Green Lions Club 2020 Veterans’ Recognition Dinner looked different this year as the organization hand delivered delicious roast beef dinners to 120 different veterans and their families.
According to Lions Club spokesperson Yvonne Hansen, the club didn’t have to cancel the 35 year old tradition due to COVID this year. Instead of inviting the veterans to the Fountain Green Dance Hall for dinner, a group of caring and patriotic people volunteered to hand deliver the meals to the veterans in their own homes, Hansen said.
The dinners went out to 120 veterans in Chester, Fountain Green, Moroni and Wales on Veterans Day. They were served roast beef with baked potato, buttered carrots, tossed green salad and pumpkin pie.
A special thanks goes out to our donors who made this possible, Hansen said. The donors are: Sue and Riley Player of Fountain Green, D & R Farms of Fountain Green, Fountain Green City, C & J Walker Plumbing of Fountain Green, Cheryl Shepherd, Moroni and Karen Weller of Wales.
