
Mary Joy Justesen Littke, 89, passed away on March 1, 2022, in Provo, Utah. She was born Sept. 29, 1932 to Vaughn Charles Justesen and Otelia Larsen Justesen at their home in Spring City, Utah.
Mary Joy married Joseph Richard Littke on Sept. 3, 1963 in the Manti Temple, and they had four children.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mary Joy gave the great legacy of raising her family in the light of the gospel. Her home was a place of beauty and peace where the gospel was studied and many happy memories were made.
She had a deep love of the temple and regularly attended the Manti Temple. She dedicated much of her time to serving faithfully in various callings and capacities in the church.
Mary Joy graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in teaching. She was a beloved schoolteacher in Monroe, Utah, and cherished the opportunity to inspire and mentor her second grade students.
A kind and loving woman, she made friends easily, and everyone who knew her felt her warmth and goodness.
Mary Joy loved music, and she would take her family to concerts and supported her children in learning the piano and other instruments. She loved hearing about the accomplishments and adventures of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her posterity was the joy and light of her life.
Mary Joy was an involved member of her community in Monroe, where she lived for nearly 50 years.
She volunteered at the hospital and was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed quilting, spending time with family and serving those around her. Her warm heart, patience and eagerness to serve will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her four children: Kari Nay, Darren Littke, Brett (Carolina) Littke, and Erica Littke; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Patricia (Roger) Rasmusson and McRae Justesen; and son-in-law, Don Nay.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the Monroe Stake Center, 140 South Main Street, where friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
