CASTLE DALE—The Region 15 hopes of the Hawks of North Sanpete High hit a snag last week as the Hawks fell to the Emery Spartans on the road, 76-61.
The Hawks (2-2 Region 15, 10-4 overall) started out the week in second place in Region 15.
But they got a slow start in their game against Emery on Wednesday, Jan. 10, behind 13 points at halftime, 31-18.
In the third quarter, the Hawks picked up speed and were outscored by two points and tied with 29 points apiece in the final quarter, yet matching pace with the Spartans in only the second half was key to the Hawks’ 15-point demise.
The Hawks were led by Spencer Steadman with 19 points and Shawn Taylor with 16.
This week, the Hawks hosted Richfield yesterday and then host cross-county rival Manti on Friday at 7 p.m.
