Sweet Summer Time Festival to help raise funds for Fairview girl

FAIRVIEW—The Sweet Summer Time Festival will take place on Saturday at the Fairview City Rodeo Grounds.

The festival, now in its second year, runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature a beautiful baby contest, Dutch oven cook-off, remote-control car races, water and carnival games, and craft and food booths.

The booths and games open at 10 a.m. The beautiful baby contest starts at noon, with the contest finals at 2 p.m.

At 1 p.m., the water games begin and go until 4 p.m.

The car races will be held at 2 p.m. for ages 6-12, 2:40 for 13-18 and 3:20 for 18-plus. The finals will be at 4 p.m.

The Dutch oven cook-off begins at 5:30 p.m. in the arena.

There will be also be giveaways, including a grand prize of a 9-foot pontoon boat.

Food booths will include local fare from Shave n’ Cream and the Waffle Love food truck.

The festival is, in part, a fundraising event for Dani Miner, a 15, a Fairview girl who suffers from a rare medical condition, requires frequent hospitalization and has undergone numerous surgeries.
