Letter to the Editor – Trump is poisoning our country

I know and understand that you don’t usually accept or publish anonymous letters. However, I am honestly fearful for my livelihood if I sign my name to this letter. If you choose not to publish it, please at least independently verify what I’m sharing and publish your own story about these things so the public can know the truth of what’s going on in our country now.

We all have our own political views, and I believe that is important. As the son of a U.S. Air Force veteran, it’s also important that in our country, everyone has the freedom to express and support their own political views.

Whether one of us lives in Wyoming and is a Republican and another is a Democrat and lives in Illinois, we’re neighbors and citizens of the same country—we are not enemies, nor should we be. But President Trump is attempting to pit us against one another—to make us think and act like enemies.

Not only is President Trump trying to make us see each other as enemies, but he is actively destroying our democracy:

• He and the Republican party are attempting to limit the voting rights of American citizens if those citizens are women or people of color.
• He is deporting and refusing entry into the United States individuals who are either legally in the country or U.S. citizens with dual citizenship.
• He is arresting people with no criminal record who are peacefully demonstrating.
• He is openly breaking laws.
• He is using the U.S. Justice Department to punish people he doesn’t like.
• He has removed federal employees who exist to make sure the government is following the law (i.e., inspector generals)
• He is quickly taking apart the U.S. government structures that serve all American people.
• He is using DOGE and Elon Musk to intentionally make the government less efficient and more wasteful.
• He is openly working against U.S. interests around the world and uniting the rest of the world against us.

In general, people don’t care what the government is doing unless it affects them personally or if they hear a rumor on social media about “the other side.”

I beg your readers to start seeing us all as Americans and to take action and demand that their elected representatives keep the president accountable for his actions that are harming our country.
