Ephraim woman is grateful for mayor John Scott – Julie Poulson
I would like to share how grateful I am for Mayor Scott. As Dennis Nordfeldt said in this month’s Ephraim City News, “[John Scott] is a natural leader… is kind and compassionate, but at the same time is fiercely protective, and a staunch defender of our city and our residents.” I agree.
As Mayor Scott has served all of us in Ephraim for more than 14 years, I have felt safe. He has protected us because his heart has always been rooted in the well-being of this Sanpete Valley, with a depth that has helped make Ephraim a better place to live—a place to be proud of.
Mayor John Scott, in my opinion, you can step down from your position with confidence that you have given it your all—and then some. You have honored your responsibilities with loyalty and a deep love for our community. You have protected us.
With dignity, diplomacy and courtesy, you have shared with us your love for and faith in God. I believe that has been the umbrella that has sheltered and strengthened your service.
I have also been grateful for the Ephraim City News you sent every month. I devoured each issue because it offered information about our community—an inside scoop—that helped me understand who we are more clearly. That newsletter helped unify us in fun and healthy ways.
Never having been a mayor, I cannot begin to comprehend the sacrifices required to be as effective as you have been. But I know you made them willingly, and I am sure your family made many sacrifices as well so you could do your job in the best way possible.
The bottom line is that Ephraim is a much better place to live because of you. Thank you—thank you—thank you.
I would also like to thank Margie Anderson and Lloyd Stevens for the many hours and the effort they have devoted to serving all of us. Their love for this community has been evident in the sacrifices they have made on our behalf.
I maintain that in Ephraim we are surrounded by so many good people.
And now, Chris Larsen—you have some big shoes to fill. But I know you well enough to be confident that when you take on the mantle of mayor in January 2025, you will do so with the purpose of continuing to strengthen, love and protect our beloved Ephraim. Thank you for being willing. My husband and I, along with many others, are in your corner.
