Guidelines for Submitting a Letter to the Editor

We welcome thoughtful, respectful letters from our readers. Please review the following guidelines before submitting.

Submission Requirements

  • Length: Letters should be 250 words or fewer.
    Longer submissions may be edited for space or clarity.
  • Name: Include your full name.
    Anonymous or unsigned letters will not be published.
  • Location: Please include your city or town of residence.
    (For example: Ephraim, Manti, Gunnison.)
  • Contact Information: Include a daytime phone number and email address.
    This is for verification only — your contact info will not be published.

Deadlines

  • Letters should be received by Tuesday at 5:00 p.m.
    to be considered for that week’s edition.
    (Submissions received after that time may be held for the following issue.)

Content Guidelines

  • Letters should focus on local issues, community topics, or responses to recent articles.
  • Avoid personal attacks, profanity, or libelous statements.
  • The Messenger reserves the right to edit for clarity, grammar, and length.
  • We may limit frequency of publication to ensure a variety of viewpoints.
  • Letters must be original and exclusive to the Sanpete Messenger.

🚫 Not Accepted

  • Open letters to individuals or organizations.
  • Campaign endorsements submitted by candidates or their representatives.
  • Mass-distributed or form letters.
