Snow College professor Brad Taggart named Utah Higher Educator of the Year

EPHRAIM — Snow College art professor Brad Taggart has been named the 2026 Higher Educator of the Year by the Utah Art Education Association.
The statewide award recognizes exceptional leadership and impact in art education. According to the association, the honor highlights educators whose dedication, innovation and commitment advance the field of art education in Utah.
Taggart was selected by his peers for what the association described as meaningful contributions, mentorship and ongoing efforts to strengthen arts learning across the state.
Snow College Provost Michael Austin said the recognition reflects Taggart’s long-standing role within the college’s art program.
“We are all excited about this award, but we are not surprised,” Austin said. “Professor Taggart has been a core part of Snow’s art program for many years, and this award confirms what we have always known: Brad is a wonderful artist and an exceptional teacher who works every day to give our students an amazing experience at Snow College.”
As part of the recognition, the Utah Art Education Association will nominate Taggart for Pacific Region consideration through the National Art Education Association later this year. Taggart will work with UAEA leadership in the coming months to complete the nomination process.
Snow College officials said the award acknowledges Taggart’s continued work to inspire creativity, critical thinking and artistic excellence among his students and within the broader community.
