EPHRAIM — The Snow College women’s basketball team closed its Idaho road trip with a 72–49 loss to No. 9 College of Southern Idaho on Saturday, Jan. 20, extending its conference struggles midway through Scenic West play.
The Badgers stayed competitive through three quarters before CSI pulled away late. Snow trailed 17–12 after the first quarter and 36–23 at halftime, then cut the deficit to 48–38 entering the fourth quarter before the Golden Eagles sealed the game with a decisive final push.
The game opened evenly, with both teams tied 4–4 three minutes in. CSI followed with a 9–0 run before Megan Johnson scored back-to-back layups to halt the momentum. Snow trimmed the gap early in the second quarter with an 8–4 run, capped by a Seini Tuipulotu three-pointer that pulled the Badgers within one point.
CSI responded with a 15–3 run to close the half and regain control. Snow showed life coming out of the break, as Lala Baldwin hit a three to cut the lead back to single digits, and the Badgers outscored CSI 15–12 in the third quarter. The Golden Eagles regained separation in the fourth, opening with an 11–4 burst and outscoring Snow 24–11 over the final 10 minutes.
Johnson led Snow with 10 points and seven rebounds. Avery Allred added seven points and five rebounds.
The loss followed a 63–45 defeat at North Idaho College earlier in the trip. In that game, Snow trailed 13–9 after the first quarter and 25–22 at halftime before NIC used a 13–0 run in the third quarter to open its largest lead of the night. The Badgers closed the third down 45–30 and could not recover in the fourth.
Allred led Snow with 11 points against NIC, while Hartlynn Richins and Baldwin scored seven points apiece. Johnson pulled down eight rebounds, and Dalana Jakovljevic added five.
The two losses dropped Snow to 13–7 overall and 1–4 in conference play after the first round of Scenic West games. The Badgers are now on a four-game losing streak, which includes recent losses to in-state rivals Salt Lake Community College and Utah State University Eastern.
Snow will wrap up its three-game road stretch Thursday, Jan. 22, with a 5 p.m. matchup at Utah State University Eastern. The Eagles enter the game 14–6 overall and unbeaten in conference play, sitting atop the Scenic West standings. USUE defeated Snow 64–58 in Ephraim earlier this month.
Snow holds a 24–16 all-time edge over USUE but has won just two of the last 10 meetings. The Badgers are 12–7 when playing in Price and earned a 45–32 win there last season.
