Snow men prepare to face Utah State Eastern after back-to-back road wins

EPHRAIM — Snow College’s men’s basketball team will open its final regular-season homestand Thursday night against Utah State University Eastern at the Horne Activity Center.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. as the Badgers enter the matchup at 24-1 overall and 9-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, coming off back-to-back road wins over Salt Lake Community College and Colorado Northwestern Community College .

Snow topped SLCC 103-76 last Thursday in Taylorsville before closing the weekend with a 109-60 win at Colorado Northwestern on Saturday. The two victories marked the eighth and ninth times this season the Badgers have scored at least 100 points, surpassing last year’s total of such performances.

Sophomore guard Brock McClure was named Scenic West Athletic Conference Player of the Week after averaging 19.5 points and 12 rebounds across the two games. McClure grabbed a school-record 19 rebounds against SLCC, the most by a Snow player in more than a decade .

Snow shot better than 50 percent from the field in both wins, improving to 13-0 this season when reaching that mark. Under head coach Andrew May, the Badgers are now 55-1 all-time when shooting at least 50 percent in a game .

Offensively, Snow ranks eighth nationally in NJCAA Division I men’s basketball in both scoring average at 93.6 points per game and field-goal percentage at 50.5 percent, according to conference statistics .

Utah State Eastern enters Thursday’s contest with a 19-6 overall record and a 6-4 mark in conference play. The Eagles have won three straight games, including a 79-68 overtime victory against SLCC last weekend.

Snow holds a 37-22 all-time advantage in the series and has won five consecutive meetings against the Eagles. Since 2020, the Badgers are 7-1 against Utah State Eastern when playing in Ephraim .

The game begins a three-game home stretch to close the regular season. Snow will host Salt Lake Community College on Feb. 19 before wrapping up conference play against Colorado Northwestern on Feb. 21.
