GV seniors invited to upcoming social events
GUNNISON—The Gunnison Valley Seniors Social will be held Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the senior center in Gunnison City Hall.
Organizers invite all residents aged 55 and older to attend. The meal will include ham, cheesy potatoes, a vegetable, and rolls. Attendees are asked to bring their own dishes, a potluck dessert to share and a friend. Monetary donations are also welcome.
At a recent gathering, John and Jessica Egan of Axtell brought members of their family to entertain the seniors, including Elisabeth, 9, Peter, 7, and James, 4.
The children performed for attendees with a piano solo of a Chopin waltz, songs, and a ballet dance by Elisabeth. Seniors in attendance expressed appreciation for the performance.
The center continues to serve meals Monday through Thursday at 11:30 a.m. each week. In addition to the meals, many attendees remain afterward to visit.
Quilters also continue to meet in the quilting room on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m.
Ready-made baby quilts and larger quilts are available for purchase in the quilt display located in the hall. Those interested in having a quilt made may contact Kathy Brown at 435-851-3016 or the senior center at 435-528-3781.
