Commissioners officially put E911 sales tax on ballot

SANPETE COUNTY—Nearly 6,000 students are expected to return to classrooms today in the North Sanpete and South Sanpete school districts, with both districts preparing for new programs, updated technology and continued efforts to engage students.

MAYFIELD—The Mayfield Town Council welcomed Sanpete County Clerk Linda Christiansen to its monthly meeting Aug. 12 at Mayfield City Hall, where she discussed recent elections and recognized the county’s election staff and volunteers.
SANPETE COUNTY—With the new school year approaching, the Utah Department of Transportation is upgrading reduced-speed school zones in Ephraim, Manti and Gunnison to improve safety for students and pedestrians.
MANTI—A biologist with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) talked to the city council last week about renewing the city’s agreement with DWR for removal of deer.
FAYETTE—Scott and Lila Bartholomew, who have spent decades serving their family, church and community in Sanpete County, will be honored as the grand marshals of the 2026 Sanpete County Fair this month.
MANTI—When Scott Bartholomew joined the Sanpete County Commission in late 2013, he expected the learning curve to be steep.
MANTI—Sanpeters donated blood Wednesday, Aug. 12 during an American Red Cross blood drive held in Manti to help replenish the region’s blood supply.
MANTI—The South Sanpete School District has been awarded $13.14 million through the Utah APEX Grant Program to expand career and technical education and profession-based learning opportunities for students throughout the district.
