MANTI—The Sanpete County Fair gets underway next Monday with a slightly compressed time schedule but a typical agenda of approximately 35 events and competitions, orchestrated by 70-80 volunteers.
MANTI—The voters of Sanpete County will have a chance to pass or reject a 1% sales tax increase in the November election that would fund Enhanced 911 (E911) and rural health services.
SPRING CITY—As of Tuesday, the Black Canyon Fire area had decreased by about 200 acres compared to a week ago and was 47% contained with firefighters continuing to work along the fire’s perimeter.
MT. PLEASANT—The Mt. Pleasant City Council unanimously approved a resolution Aug. 11 revising the city’s electric rate schedules and incorporating a power cost adjustment (PCA) into base energy rates.
EPHRAIM—Ephraim has been generating a significant share of its electricity at its hydropower plants for more than 100 years.
MAYFIELD—The Mayfield Town Council welcomed Sanpete County Clerk Linda Christiansen to its monthly meeting Aug. 12 at Mayfield City Hall, where she discussed recent elections and recognized the county’s election staff and volunteers.
SANPETE COUNTY—With the new school year approaching, the Utah Department of Transportation is upgrading reduced-speed school zones in Ephraim, Manti and Gunnison to improve safety for students and pedestrians.
MANTI—A biologist with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) talked to the city council last week about renewing the city’s agreement with DWR for removal of deer.
FAYETTE—Scott and Lila Bartholomew, who have spent decades serving their family, church and community in Sanpete County, will be honored as the grand marshals of the 2026 Sanpete County Fair this month.
MANTI—When Scott Bartholomew joined the Sanpete County Commission in late 2013, he expected the learning curve to be steep.
MANTI—Sanpeters donated blood Wednesday, Aug. 12 during an American Red Cross blood drive held in Manti to help replenish the region’s blood supply.
MANTI—The South Sanpete School District has been awarded $13.14 million through the Utah APEX Grant Program to expand career and technical education and profession-based learning opportunities for students throughout the district.
MT. PLEASANT—Ethan Mendocino, who graduated last spring from North Sanpete High School, is one of the only Sanpete County students in several years to be admitted to the freshman class at Harvard University.
MOAB-The Lady Templars defeated the Lady Red Devils 8-0 to go 4-1 on the season. Manti’s next match will be Aug. 25 as the Lady Templars host Juab.
MT. PLEASANT—The North Sanpete Hawks opened their 2026 football season with dominance, shutting down Cottonwood 57-0 on Friday, Aug. 14 at home.
