FOUNTAIN GREEN— The owner of FNG Autowerks appeared before the Fountain Green City Council seeking renewal of his business license as the city continues to address alleged violations at the business.
MT. PLEASANT—The North Sanpete School District plans to increase its annual property tax revenue by $750,000 to address capital and infrastructure needs following a Truth-in-Taxation a public hearing Aug. 11 and a school-board vote Aug. 18.
MANTI—For nearly a year, the disappearance of a 12-year-old girl became a story Sanpete County followed—from the first frantic search to a high-speed chase across Sevier County.
EPHRAIM—The Snow College Badgers opened the 2026 football season with a 31-17 victory over No. 10 Garden City Community College (Kansas) on Saturday in Ephraim, proving the Broncbusters truly weren’t in Kansas anymore.
MANTI—Last Friday night gave Sanpete County football plenty to celebrate as Manti, North Sanpete and Gunnison Valley all picked up victories. Manti rolled past Juan Diego Catholic 54-7, North Sanpete rallied to edge Deseret Peak 22-21 in overtime and Gunnison Valley earned its first win of the season with a 22-18 victory over Providence Hall.
MANTI—The voters of Sanpete County will have a chance to pass or reject a 1% sales tax increase in the November election that would fund Enhanced 911 (E911) and rural health services.
PAYSON—North Sanpete overcame an early deficit Wednesday, Aug. 19, to earn a 3-1 nonconference volleyball victory over Payson.
SANPETE COUNTY—Nearly 6,000 students are expected to return to classrooms today in the North Sanpete and South Sanpete school districts, with both districts preparing for new programs, updated technology and continued efforts to engage students.
MANTI—A new Sanpete County Sweetheart and Junior Princess, along with two Junior Princess attendants, were crowned Aug. 8 following a competition at the Sanpete County Fairpark.
MANTI—The Sanpete County Fair gets underway next Monday with a slightly compressed time schedule but a typical agenda of approximately 35 events and competitions, orchestrated by 70-80 volunteers.
SPRING CITY—As of Tuesday, the Black Canyon Fire area had decreased by about 200 acres compared to a week ago and was 47% contained with firefighters continuing to work along the fire’s perimeter.
MT. PLEASANT—The Mt. Pleasant City Council unanimously approved a resolution Aug. 11 revising the city’s electric rate schedules and incorporating a power cost adjustment (PCA) into base energy rates.
EPHRAIM—Ephraim has been generating a significant share of its electricity at its hydropower plants for more than 100 years.
MAYFIELD—The Mayfield Town Council welcomed Sanpete County Clerk Linda Christiansen to its monthly meeting Aug. 12 at Mayfield City Hall, where she discussed recent elections and recognized the county’s election staff and volunteers.
SANPETE COUNTY—With the new school year approaching, the Utah Department of Transportation is upgrading reduced-speed school zones in Ephraim, Manti and Gunnison to improve safety for students and pedestrians.
