North Sanpete rolls to seventh straight win in Payson

PAYSON—North Sanpete overcame an early deficit Wednesday, Aug. 19, to earn a 3-1 nonconference volleyball victory over Payson.
With the win, North Sanpete improved to 7-0 on the season.
The Hawks opened the match with a 25-20 loss in the first set but responded by taking control of the match over the next three sets. North Sanpete won the second set 25-18 before closing out the match with back-to-back 25-17 victories.

After dropping that opening set, however, North Sanpete regained its momentum and didn’t allow Payson to regain the advantage.
Rylee Stewart led the Hawks’ offense throughout the match, finishing with 21 kills while hitting .441. Stewart also had an impact at the net with four solo blocks, all while contributing 13 digs on defense.
Taylee Reid provided another strong offensive performance with 15 kills and a .404 hitting percentage. She recorded 11 digs as North Sanpete held Payson to 17 points in each of the final two sets.
Aydree Jacobson helped keep the Hawks’ offense organized with 49 assists while adding nine digs. Harley Olson added two aces and finished with 16 digs to help maintain defensive pressure.
North Sanpete will look to carry their momentum into its next match as the Hawks face Juan Diego Catholic tonight at home starting at 6:30 p.m. North Sanpete will travel to Richfield on Tuesday, Sept. 1 with the varsity game starting at 6:30 p.m.
