EPHRAIM—The 2026 Miss Ephraim Scholarship Pageant turned into a family affair on Saturday, May 9, as Adelie Douglas was crowned Miss Ephraim by her sister, outgoing Miss Ephraim 2025 Kamrie Douglas at the Eccles Center on the Snow College campus.

Five contestants—Adelie Douglas, Sierra Curtis, Alany Nuñez, Bailey James and Lexi Ogden—competed for the crown during this year’s annual scholarship pageant. Shaun Kjar served as master of ceremonies for the evening. Jana Ogden and Kaitlyn Mathews were the pageant directors, and Jayme Carter, Kristin Grasteit, and Karen Reed filled the role of judges this year. The judge’s chair was Tristen Jessop.

The pageant featured talent performances and platform presentations from each contestant, culminating in the final crowning moment as Kamrie completed her year of service and passed the title to her sister.

Kamrie made her final walk before the crown was passed to sister Adelie, marking a notable family moment in the history of the local scholarship pageant.

Adelie’s first attendant is Curtis, and her second attendant is Ogden. James was named Miss Congeniality.

Adelie, daughter of Colton and Melanie Douglas, earned the title of Miss Ephraim with her platform, “Create Your Own Kind of Beautiful,” focused on self-worth and individuality. For her talent portion of the competition, she performed “Think of Me” from The Phantom of the Opera.

After the competition, Adelie said, “It was the most amazing experience I could ever ask for. It was so fun preparing for it, and I had a blast doing my talent portion and my walk-around. It was really, truly amazing. It feels incredible. I can’t even believe it.”

Bruce Douglas, grandfather to both Adelie and Kamrie, said, “I love them both. We’ve got the best grandkids in the world, and I am so proud of them. They’re beautiful. They’re good, kind, loving, wonderful young ladies. I couldn’t be prouder.”

Curtis, daughter of Scott and Diana Curtis, presented the platform “Disconnect to Reconnect,” encouraging balance in digital life. She performed a dance solo to “This Moment” by Mimi Webb. She told the Sanpete Messenger, “It was fantastic. You get so close to these girls, so it’s kind of sad to see it end, but I am really looking forward to the reign with these two lovely ladies. It’ll be good. I’m excited to spend time with them.”

Nuñez, daughter of Antonio Nuñez and Leticia Duarte, shared the platform “You Belong,” centered on inclusion and acceptance. She performed a traditional Mexican dance to music from Coco.

James, daughter of Dwight and Susie James, presented the platform “Paws with a Purpose,” highlighting service through animal-related advocacy. She performed a dance solo to “Applause” by Lady Gaga.

Ogden, daughter of Jana and Craig Ogden, promoted the platform “Seeing the Able not the Label,” focusing on inclusion and perception of ability. She performed a dance solo to a remix of “Drop” by Fatman Scoop.

Of the entire day of competition, Ogden said, “Today was great. I loved the amazing connections I got with all the girls, and we had so much fun practicing, and the inside jokes that we now have, it was so great. And I couldn’t think of a better group of ladies to do this with. This year’s going to be amazing, and I’m so grateful for it.”

Having finished her year serving as Miss Ephraim 2025, Kamrie said, “The last year has been so much fun. I’ve learned so much and made so many incredible memories and so many new friendships and relationships with people. It’s been so amazing and I’ve had so much fun serving my community and just getting to know people and be someone that people can turn to.”

The evening concluded with Adelie being crowned Miss Ephraim 2026, officially beginning her year of service following sister Kamrie’s farewell as the 2025 titleholder.
