Executive Assistant Mike Stagg, on behalf of the Utah Local Governments Trust, presented the pool staff with the award. There are about 30 pools and aquatic centers in the association and the Mt. Pleasant Aquatic Center placed first.

Criteria for the award involved many different factors including staff, records, facilities, and skills. The Mt. Pleasant facility earned an A+ in evaluation for the award.

“Our lifeguards were tested on multiple skills and scenarios that include everything from CPR to in-water rescues that include active, passive and spinal victims,” Adams said. “These skills must be completed to a high standard, and our lifeguards completed the scenarios with high scores.”

Adams said the staff works hard to make sure they will meet every safety standard required by local, state, and national organizations.
