August 2 is notable anniversary

August 2, 1776… We are coming upon a notable anniversary this weekend.

Though we celebrate Independence Day on every July 4, it was actually August 2 that the declaration of Independence was signed. Most commonly think it was signed on July 4, however it was July 4 that it was voted on. After it toured among the colonies, it was signed by most of the 56 signers on August 2, 1776 at the Pennsylvania State House, later renamed Independence Hall. It was signed most famously by John Hancock on that day!

It is my hope that during this 250th anniversary of that day, we take a few moments in reflection, prayer and reverence for the Declaration of Independence. Taking some time to read it over and relearn its principles of Liberty.
