Bullying can make people want to end their life

You may think bullying has no effect on people, but the words you say may make somebody’s situation worse or even make them want to end their life.

Bullying is something that needs to be stopped, and we can take steps to prevent it. You may be wondering what bullying is. Bullying is if you are constantly picking on another student and won’t stop. Like making comments about how they look, smell, talk, etc., or even sometimes it’s even physical.

If you are making comments about how someone looks, why would you even do that? Like do you want a copy and paste of yourself or something? If we all looked the same, the world would be a lame place.

Bullying is not okay. But not only does the person being bullied need help—the bully needs help also.

Some people, especially teenagers, take their own lives due to bullying. Teenagers who are bullied are approximately two to nine times more likely to consider suicide than people who aren’t bullied. People who commit suicide, though don’t actually want to die, want the pain to end. They just want relief.

The things bully victims go through make them feel like the world is better without them, and that’s not true. The world is a better place with all of us in it because we are all unique in our own individual ways. On that note, though, go check up on your loved ones, friends and even the people around you.

Something people have come to understand is that when people kill themselves they don’t pass on their pain. Instead they give you a different type of pain, like you don’t know what the person went through or how they felt. Yeah, you might’ve related to what they were going through but you never can fit perfectly in another person’s shoes.

Like if they were being told to kill themselves, or being called worthless, you don’t know what they felt. You don’t know how it made them feel that they were being told those things, basically being bullied.

Some steps adults can take to prevent bullying from happening is to make sure your child understands bullying so if they see it, or if it’s happening to them, they can speak up about it.

Know the warning signs of someone being bullied. Some of the signs are avoiding school or activities, a change in eating habits, their grades start dropping, etc.

If you do see bullying or if you suspect bullying is happening, then report it. Don’t stay silent because you truly might make a difference in someone’s life.

We all have something to contribute to today’s world. Heck, the person you are bullying might become the next singer, author, dancer, etc. You never know, so be the buddy not the bully.
