Delora Carter Christensen

Delora Carter Christensen, age 93, passed away peacefully Oct. 5, 2021 in Nephi, Utah.

She was born Oct.30, 1927 in Mona, Utah to George Laurel and Mavel Helena Carter.  She married Homer Christensen on June 12, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 5, 1962.  She has lived alone in the home she was born in since Homer passed away Feb. 13, 2007.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including Mutual and Cub Scouts. She worked at the Frostie Freeze and Vard’s Drive Inn, where she formed many life-long friendships.

She loved fishing at Strawberry and Otter Creek Reservoirs. She enjoyed the camping and association of the Good Sam’s Club.  She also enjoyed being a snowbird in St. George and Yuma in their 5th-wheel trailer.

She enjoyed driving and later riding in her Hyundai Tucson SUV.  The seats were high enough for her to get in and out easily.  Her only regret is that she didn’t get it 10 years sooner.  She enjoyed visits at her home with her many friends, especially in the summers out under her shady porch.

She loved family gatherings and enjoyed talking and laughing together.  She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and having them all call her Grandma D.  She loved the Christmas season and especially appreciated a beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

She is survived by her sons, Scott (LuAnn) Christensen of West Valley City, Utah and Tracy (Karen) Christensen of Manti, Utah; grandchildren Blake (Allison) Christensen, Raquel (Chase) Davis, Tara (Chad) Carlson, and Jacie (Johnny) Koegel; and 11 great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death by two granddaughters, Kylee and Kymberlee Christensen.

Services were held on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021 at the Mona 2nd Ward with a graveside service at the Mona Cemetery at noon.
