Dolores Elaine Mortensen passed away Aug. 29, 2022 at the Meadows Memory Care facility in St. George Utah after a long struggle against Alzheimer’s and cancer.

Dolores Elaine Mortensen

Elaine was born Sept. 24, 1933 into a family with two sisters and one brother. Her Great-grandpa Dalton worked on the Nauvoo Temple and crossed the plains with Brigham Young’s company and her Grandpa Dalton was sent on a lifetime mission to Northern Arizona until blindness made it necessary for the family to move for treatment to Los Angeles California where Elaine was born.

She was the only blonde in the family and was witty, some- times sassy and had a zest for life’s activities. As a young girl and throughout her life she showed exceptional musical talent. She loved to sing, learned early to play the trombone, French horn, clarinet, guitar and piano.

She was often involved in church musical programs and participated production of the Manti Pageant. She also loved the outdoors and taking day trips in her Jeep in the mountains of Central and Southern Utah. She is survived by five of her six children: Frank, Pamela, Jesse, Christine and David. Diane proceeded her in death. Elaine loved her children and loved the Lord.

She kept hundreds of notes around the house with love filled comments about her children, words of personal encouragement, quotes from our prophets and scripture references. She is finally happy and can see clearly in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
