Erick Kade Shaw

Erick Kade Shaw, 17, unexpectedly passed away on Nov. 23, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Kade was born on May 1, 2004, to Nick and Katie Shaw (Manti) and older sister Jayda.  He left this world the same way he came–too fast and too soon.  Complications at birth caused Kade to have cerebral palsy.  Although his physical body may not have been perfect, everything else about Kade was!  His love for others was unconditional, Christ-like, and pure.

He welcomed all with a warm smile or touch of his hand.  He just loved people and had a special ability to bring them together.  He was intelligent and sensitive, and he had a fun sense of humor.  He taught those around him valuable life lessons.  His vision wasn’t perfect, but he always saw the best in others.  He didn’t “talk,” but his smile spoke volumes, and his spirit touched the heart of everyone he encountered.

Many may have seen Kade’s life as filled with restrictions, but Kade lived life to the fullest!  He always had an enthusiasm for adventure and a “need for speed.” If it had a motor, he wanted to hear it, touch it, or go for a ride.  He loved demolition derbies, monster trucks, and UTVs/ATVs.

His favorite thing to do was go rock-crawling and trail-riding in his RZR.  He liked to be in the center of the commotion–hanging out with cousins, in the pits at a derby or race, or “guiding” a ride.  He loved music and enjoyed playing his piano and bells.  He loved Jesus and his testimony was strong.  Kade had a devoted tribe of people who helped care for him through the years.  Along with family, many thanks go to his teachers, therapists, doctors, and peers.

Kade is survived by his parents; sister Jayda (Cade) Braithwaite; grandparents, Andy & Carol Shaw (Ephraim), Robert & Diane Christiansen (Mayfield); great grandma, Pat Shaw (Nephi), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love him.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of kindness and love that they have received during this difficult time.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Manti Red Church. Burial was in the Manti City Cemetery. Please join us for Kade’s last ride immediately after the funeral.  Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.  Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com.
