Grant Tidwell Winkelman Jr.

Grant Tidwell Winkelman Jr. of Fairview, Utah, 78, passed away Feb. 15, 2022.

Grant was born March 31, 1943 to Grant Tidwell and Barbara Grimes Winkelman. His lifelong companion was Renato Delos Reyes Causapin, whom he married in 2013.
Grant was born in St. George, Missouri and lived all over the place from San Bernardino, California to Oakland, California, where he met Renato, and they finally settled in Fairview, Utah.

As a young kid, he would spend summers in Utah visiting his grandfather and loved to help out on the ranch in Mount Pleasant.  In 1966, he joined the Peace Corps as a volunteer teaching English in Jilib, Somalia. After proudly serving the Peace Corps, he did child protective services for a while but ended up as a dental technician and laboratory owner for over 40 years.

He enjoyed road trips to national parks, especially his favorite, Bryce Canyon. Cutting rocks was his forte, gardening was his passion, and he adored his cats.

Grant is survived by his husband, Renato Causapin, and brother, Dane (Penny) Winkelman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sue Evon and Kay Elizabeth.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary (96 N 100 W, Mt. Pleasant, Utah) with a viewing one hour prior starting at 10 a.m. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.

Online condolences and Live Zoom Link at rasmussenmortuary.com in his obituary.
