Gunnison seniors aim to get lucky for St. Patty’s

GUNNISON—Gunnison senior citizens will hold a St. Patrick’s celebration Monday, March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Gunnison City Hall in the Senior’s Center.

On the menu will be spaghetti with marinara sauce, salad and breadsticks, along with potluck desserts brought by participants. Be sure to bring your own dishes.

Last month, Kiersten and Ron Smith took charge of our entertainment. They did the “Golden Oldies” Bingo game.

Everyone playing had a card with different songs on it instead of the usual numbers. It was amazing how the majority of the group was familiar with the songs played. It was a fun twist to the normal Bingo.

Among artists and songs introduced were Buddy Holly, “Peggy Sue;” Beach Boys, “Surfing USA” and “Help Me, Rhonda;” Everly Brothers, “Cathy’s Clown” and “All I have to Do is Dream;” Beatles, “A Hard Day’s Night” and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand;” Elvis Presley, “Jailhouse Rock” and “Hound Dog.”

There were 10 winners that evening. We definitely will have the Smiths back again.
