Historic Snow basketball season comes to a close

HUTCHINSON, Kansas—A historic season for Snow College men’s basketball came to a heartbreaking close Tuesday, as the team fell 63-62 to Conners State College of Oklahoma in the first round of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) men’s basketball tournament.
After the Badgers made two free throws go to up 62-60 with only five seconds remaining, Conners State guard D.J. Dormu received an inbound pass and took the ball up the court.
Dormu launched a shot just past half court, and as time expired on the game clock, the ball sailed through the net to give Conners State the win. It was Dormu’s second game-winning shot of the season.
In a post-game interview, NJCAA commentators described the action-packed back-and forth game as “one of the greatest games in junior college basketball history.”
Two players for the Badgers reached double-digits: shooting guards Chance Trujillo with 15 points and McCaden Adams with 12. As a team, the Badgers shot 35% percent from the field and 33% from the three-point line.
In the post-game interview, Conners State coach Bill Mules Jr. gave credit to Snow’s team: “Hats off to Snow. They’re talented…they’re very well coached. That’s a great basketball team and they had a heck of a season,” he said.
The game was only the second loss for the Badgers in a season totaling 32 wins.
