James Lawrence “Jay or J.L.” Barlow, age 82, passed away Dec. 21, 2016 in St. George, Utah. He was born March 23, 1934, the second child, to Shelton and Jenny Bess Barlow in Cedar City, Utah. Jay married Lois Mecham and they later divorced. He married Janet Atkin Dec. 27, 1976.
Jay was an entrepreneur, artist, printer, private pilot, musician and real estate developer. He was an active member of the LDS church serving in many callings. Jay was most grateful to have shared the gospel in Scotland with his wife, Janet.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; children and stepchildren, Rick Barlow of Cedar City; Laura (Marvin) Kelsey of Cedar City; Becky (Tim) Bingaman of West Valley City; Darlene (Bill) Horton of Cedar City; Julie (Will) Powell of St. George; Ann Atkin (Kim Ashton) of Provo; Cris Atkin of St. George; Stephanie (Scott) Jennings of Orem; Matt (Jen) Barlow of Orem and daughter-in-law, Michelle Barlow of Cedar City.
