Kristine Smith McBride

Kristine Smith McBride, 70, of Aurora and St. George, Utah, passed away on March 28, 2022 in St. George, Utah.

Kris was born Sept. 25, 1951 in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Thomas X. Smith Jr. and Arvilla Allen Smith. She was the youngest of nine children born to Thomas and Arvilla, and a half-sister to Vaughn Smith.

As a teenager, she lived with her older sister, Jean, and Bob Miller in Richfield, Utah, and became “Sis” to Rhett and Kara. While in Richfield, she met and married LaMar McBride Jr. They were sealed together on June 5, 1970 in the Manti Utah Temple.

They lived most of their lives in Aurora, where they raised their family.

Kris dutifully served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught many young children in Joy School. Kris received many tender mercies in her life.

In 1992, she received the gift of life by receiving a liver transplant. This tender mercy gave her and many others 29 years to enjoy her as wife, mother, Granny, aunt and friend.

A similar gift was later given when she received a kidney transplant. Those who loved Kris are eternally grateful to the individuals who kindly donated these lifesaving organs to her. Due to her health, she received amazing care from many doctors and nurses. She is especially grateful for those nurses who cared for her for many years at Liberty Dialysis in St. George, Utah.

She is survived by her husband, LaMar, and her five children: Ben (Tempy) McBride, Maradee (Steven) Peterson, Brayden (Cassy) McBride, Megan (Anthony) Sampson, and Bronson (Tara) McBride.

She had the privilege of being “Granny” to 21 grandchildren and one great- grandson. She is also survived by her siblings: Barbara, Charmaine, Steve, Larry, David, Vaughn, Rhett, and Kara; and brother-in-law, Bob Miller.

Kris loved her family and spending time with them. She loved seeing her grandchildren and hearing about each of their successes and adventures. She enjoyed attending their many events when she was able.

Kris is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jean Miller; two brothers: Tommy Smith and Allen Smith; and grandson, Max Sampson.

Graveside services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. in the Aurora City Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Aurora Ward Building from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com.
