Lady Bulldogs split early games, dominating North Summit after loss to North Sanpete

The Gunnison Valley Lady Bulldogs opened their 2026 softball season with a split in their first two games, falling to North Sanpete before rebounding with a dominant shutout victory over North Summit.

Gunnison Valley dropped its opener March 4 on the road in Mt. Pleasant, where North Sanpete pulled away for a 13-2 win.

The Bulldogs struck first, scoring one run in each of the opening two innings to take a brief 2-1 lead. But the Hawks erupted for 10 runs in the third inning and added two more in the fourth to secure the non-conference victory.

Kemree Madsen and Maddie Pratt recorded Gunnison Valley’s two hits in the game, while Mazie Hunt scored one of the Bulldogs’ runs.
Gunnison Valley quickly bounced back the following day with a decisive 15-0 win over North Summit in Coalville.

The Bulldogs wasted little time taking control, scoring three runs in the first inning and erupting for nine more in the second before adding three in the third. Gunnison Valley finished with 15 runs on 11 hits in the three-inning run-rule victory.

R. Bartholomew led the Bulldogs offensively with three runs scored and three RBIs, while Kemree Madsen collected two hits and drove in a run. Atley Coates and Brylee Wojtech also added hits during the rally.

In the circle, Brylee Wojtech delivered a dominant performance, pitching three scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out seven.

With the split, Gunnison Valley moved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in Region 15 play early in the season.
