Manti girls snap skid with road win against Richfield
RICHFIELD — The Manti High School girls basketball team picked up a road win Thursday, edging Richfield 28-23 in a low-scoring nonregion game.
Manti built a six-point halftime lead and held Richfield to three points in the fourth quarter to secure the win. The Templars led 21-13 at the break before Richfield closed the gap in the third quarter. Manti responded late to hold on.
Madelyn Bridges led Manti with 12 points, while Carlie Thompson added nine. Brenna Larsen scored five as the Templars relied on defense to close out the game.
The win came two days after a region loss at home to Emery. Manti fell 47-38 to the Spartans on Jan. 27 in a 3A Region 13 matchup.
Manti trailed throughout that contest and could not recover after Emery pulled away in the second half.
The Richfield victory improved Manti to 5-16 overall. The Templars continue Region 13 play next week with road games at Carbon and a home matchup against Union to close the regular season. Look for overage on those games next week.
