Manti Intermountain Health clinic expands facilities, providers and services

MANTI—Officials and community members joined with the Sanpete County Chamber of Commerce last Thursday March 27 in a ribbon cutting at the Intermountain Manti Clinic,

The portion of the clinic building that had previously been occupied by a pharmacy has been outfitted as expanded clinic space.

“This place has a special place in my heart,” said Chamber President Faylyn Warnick. “When I walk in, I’m greeted like family, and that’s important when you’re dealing with critical health issues.” Warnick spoke during the midday dedication at the clinic, located at 159 N. Main.

Shauna Watts, an Intermountain Health communications director, introduced the medical team, including several who grew up in central Utah.

Dr. Michael Frischknecht, raised in the area, recounted his path from pharmacist to physician and emphasized his commitment to serving friends and neighbors.

Dr. Zack Cowan, originally from Utah County, joined the clinic straight out of residency at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. He said he is “currently seeing new patients of all ages” and plans to remain in the area long-term.

Physician Assistant Clark Graham, who relocated from Texas to be closer to family, said the small-town atmosphere attracted him to the clinic.

“I grew up in South Carolina,” Graham said, “but I love it here. My family and I wanted a place like this.”

The latest addition, Dr. Brian May, is set to start in August. May, from Delta, said he looks forward to providing obstetric services locally. “We’re excited to get to know everybody here even better,” he said.

The expansion will feature daily OB-GYN availability, a weekly certified nurse-midwife clinic and increased telehealth offerings, among other enhancements.

The ceremony closed with a ribbon cutting and applause from the attendees.
