MANTI—Jasmin Rangel Murillo, a senior at Manti High School, is the recipient of a scholarship from the Utah Jazz.

For the second season in a row, the Utah Jazz has awarded a full-ride, four-year scholarship to a Manti High School student. The Utah Jazz team has committed to award a full-ride scholarship to a Utah high school student from an underrepresented group with each one of their pre-season and regular season wins. Fifty-five total scholarships were given out to Utah students this year.
Murillo received one of those scholarships this year, which covers everything—tuition, books, fees, and room and board—and which may be used to attend one of Utah’s six universities.
Winners were gathered at the Vivint Arena when Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gobert, Royce O’Neal and Mike Conley, who are all members of the Jazz team, delivered the life-changing news.
Jasmin is the daughter of Efren Rangel and Leticia Murillo. She has been a member of the Templar volleyball, basketball and track teams. She has also been a member of the Snow College Upward Bound program for four years. Jasmin is the first person in her family to attend college, and this scholarship will help her reach her educational goal of becoming a dental hygienist. She plans to attend Weber State University in the fall of 2022.
