New florist opens on Manti Main Street

MANTI — A new floral business has opened in Manti, bringing fresh-cut flowers and custom arrangements back to the city’s Main Street.
Poppies Floral Shop, owned by Angela Muhlestein, just opened this week at 75 S. Main Street. Muhlestein recently moved to Manti from Salt Lake City with her husband, McKay Muhlestein, who works as the city planner for Manti.
Muhlestein said opening the shop was a natural extension of her longtime interest in floral work. “I’ve always just loved it,” she said. “I did flowers with my mom growing up. I’ve helped friends with weddings. I’m creative, and I like to do that kind of stuff.”
She said the process of launching the business was straightforward and positive. After hearing that residents wanted a local florist, she moved quickly to line up wholesalers and set up the shop.
“I heard that people in Manti want flowers, so I jumped on it,” Muhlestein said.
Since opening, she said the shop has seen steady foot traffic, with customers stopping regularly.
While the business is called Poppies Floral Shop, Muhlestein said it offers more than just flowers. In addition to everyday arrangements, the shop carries decorative items and crafts.
“I’m just here for the people,” she said. “I want to give them what they want. I want to help them out.”
Muhlestein offers floral arrangements in three standard sizes, with small arrangements priced at $10, medium arrangements at $25 and larger arrangements at $35. Custom arrangements cost more, depending on design and materials. She also creates boutonnieres and corsages for school dances, along with wedding and funeral floral arrangements.
The shop operates Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Saturdays reserved for pickup only. To reach Muhlestein, call (801) 671-8839 or email poppiesfloral1@gmail.com.
