Oran Zabriskie
Oran Joseph Zabriskie, 81, from West Valley City, passed away Aug. 25, 2016 of metastatic cancer.
He was born and raised in Ephraim, Utah, a son of Shirley and Thelma Madsen Zabriskie on Aug. 2, 1935.
A military man, he served in 50 years in the Army Reserves and the National Guard, stationed in in Korea and Alaska. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2004.
Joe was one of eight children: Boyden, Shirley L., Margie, and Lucille, deceased. He is survived by Thelma (Max) Anderson, G. Peter (Edna) Zabriskie, and EavaLyn Follett.
He married Beth Ann Sorensen from Magna, Utah in 1956. She joined him on a tour of duty at Fort Richardson in Fairbanks, Alaska, where their first son Alan was born. Later, two more sons were born, Gary and Glen.
Joe and Beth were blessed with six grandsons: Michael, Matthew, Kyle, Aaron, Christopher and Nathan.
Joe was forever proud of his Sanpete and LDS upbringing, proud of his family, his country, and grateful for his many friends.
He was truly a “people person”, and was a tireless bundle of energy. He always tried to make life easier for everyone he knew.
Graveside services were held with military honors on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley, Utah.
