Rowen Jack Monsen

Dec. 7, 2017

Rowen Jack Monsen returned to his loving Heavenly Father on Nov. 29, 2017 after a long battle with cancer.

He was born Sept. 4, 1951 to Grant and Marian Monsen. Rowen graduated from Altamont High School in 1969, and graduated from Utah Valley Technical College in welding.          Rowen worked for Moroni Feed Company for 23 years. Rowen was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and married his wife Susan in the Provo Temple for time and all eternity on May 10, 1974.

Rowen lifted many lives with his big heart, humor, and quick wit. Rowen touched the lives of all who knew him, and was considered a father to many who were not his own children.

Rowen loved hunting and fishing with family and friends, loved the simple things in life, and loved being at home. Rowen had a knack for fixing things, and enjoyed working on his tractor which he considered more fun than work.

Rowen was preceded in death by his father Grant and brother Dwight. Rowen is survived by his mother, Marian; wife, Susan; five children: Tamara Monsen, Angela (Andy), Jones, Michael (Tiffany), Monsen, Thad (Allyson), Monsen, Grant (Holly), Monsen; three brothers and four sisters: Ann (Paul), Topham, David (Sharon), Monsen, Marie (Virgil), Pugsley, Dorine (Gary), Eberhard, Rudy (Julia), Monsen, Judy (Brent), Winters and Jerry (Ranae), Monsen.

Rowen and Susan have 17 grandchildren and there are many more who called him dad and grandpa. A viewing was held Sunday, Dec. 3 at the Fountain Green church, 151 S. 200 West from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m., with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be held at the Altonah City Cemetery. Online condolence rasmussenmortuary.com.
