Senior Master Sgt. Charles “David” Weber
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Senior Master Sgt. Charles “David” Weber.
David returned to his Father in Heaven, on July 23, 2026, at the home of his niece, in Lake Point, Tooele, Utah. David was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer on May 12, 2026. After suffering a stroke on July 11, the family brought him home to be on hospice to live out the remainder of his life surrounded by his family. He passed peacefully encircled by his family and especially his beloved wife, Kathy, who never left his side.
David was born Sept. 4, 1957, to LaKay and Charles Weber in Oakland, Alameda, California. David is the third of five children. He grew up in San Lorenzo, California. He graduated from Arroyo High School in 1975. As a boy he loved fishing, dancing, and anything to do with cars and electronics.
David was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his entire life. As a young man, he served a full-time mission for the church in Nashville, Tennessee from 1977 through 1979. David has an unshakable faith and love for his Savior and spent his life trying to emulate Jesus Christ’s example of love and service.
David was a loving, caring and dedicated Husband, Father, Son, Brother, Nephew, Uncle, Grandpa, Friend, Soldier, and servant of God. He was endlessly kind and generous and served anyone who needed help selflessly and enthusiastically. He was a hardworking man and possessed impeccable integrity.
David met the love of his life, Alice Kathleen “Kathy” Hall of Wetumpka, Elmore, Alabama. They were married in Erda, Tooele, Utah on May 19, 1999, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple for time and all eternity on November 17, 2006. They celebrated their 27th anniversary earlier this year. David was previously married to Cindy McCumsey, who gave birth to their eight children. David joyfully embraced Kathy’s daughter, Laura Elaine Taylor (Helms), born to Kathy and her first husband, David Alan Taylor, of Elmore County, Alabama.
David served a distinguished military career of 36 years in the United States Air Force / Utah Air National Guard – with the Warlocks of the 109th Air Control Squadron. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom with many other deployments across the globe. He had a deep love and passion for the United States of America and served her faithfully. He was most recently an active member in the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) as a 2-year trustee. He served for a year as the commander in the local American Legion Post 4.
David loved being at his home on the mountains of Fairview, Utah with family and friends. It was his favorite place in the world. He and Kathy also loved to travel, their favorite way being cruising ports of call around the world. They also enjoyed going to Branson, Missouri to attend musical shows and taking in the beautiful scenery in that part of the country.
David was an avid HAM radio operator, following in his father’s footsteps. He also loved to read books. His favorite authors included: David Weber, Louis Lamour, Clive Cussler, Tom Clancy, and many others. He always had a book in his hand or an audiobook in his ear.
David is preceded in death by his son, Jonathan (1994). Both parents, LaKay (2021) and Charles Weber (1984), a younger brother, Daniel Weber (2016), a nephew, Devin Weber (2022), and his oldest sister Kathleen Weber (2025). He leaves behind his forever sweetheart, Kathy, and their children, Kimberly Brown (Beau) of Port Angeles, WA, Laura Helms (Brent) of Daphne, AL, Charles David Weber III (AKA Chuck Matheson), Samuel Joseph Weber (Amy), all of Salt Lake City area, UT, Katherine “Katie” Lynn Weber of Fairview, UT, Jennifer Renee Jackson of San Antonio, TX, Elizabeth LaKay Chamberlin (Nathan) of Fairview, UT, and Stephanie Marie Riches (Jared) of Grantsville, UT. He is also survived by his sister Laura Anderson (Craig), sister Charla Law (Lawrence), both of Lakepoint, UT and sister-in-law, Christy Papworth (Lynn) of Cedar City, UT. David’s posterity includes 19 grandchildren ages one through twenty-two, and a 9-month-old great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at the North Sanpete Veterans Memorial where he will be acknowledged with full military honors, the very memorial he played an instrumental role in bringing to this community. (Located at the intersection of Hawk Blvd. and State St. in Mount Pleasant, Utah). We will then enjoy a “Celebration of Life” at the Mt Pleasant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Stake Center at 11 a.m. (461 N. 300 West, Mt Pleasant, Utah) with a luncheon to follow.
