Set aside political differences – Ann Gardner
We need to set aside our political differences and stand up for families and human rights.
Mass firings have resulted in lost income, uncertainty, financial insecurity and lost sleep. Ill advised tariffs have driven up prices, straining and overwhelming family budgets with the high price of food and other necessities, and leaving many families struggling financially.
This administration has gutted the government, leaving important agencies under-staffed. How many people died in the Texas flood because the National Weather Service was under-staffed?
The Environmental Protection Agency was also gutted. It provided protection for clean air, clean water and land. Now families will suffer because these health protections will be gone.
Earlier this year, the city of Milwaukee discovered they had a lead crisis. Two children had lead poisoning. Others tested had elevated levels of lead. When they turned to the Centers for Disease Control for help, they learned that 20,000 full time employees had been fired including the entire lead team.
Because of this administration, many families are suffering. Some are afraid to go to the store for food, to school, to church or even to a medical clinic. Homeland Security has become homeland terrorism with ICE agents as the terrorists. They break the laws of the land, taking innocent people away.
Kristi Noem holds press conferences telling the press they are arresting criminals and gang members. That is a lie! Only a very, very small percentage are criminals. The rest are law abiding, contributing members of their communities. They belong to good families with hopes and
dreams like everyone else.
Now they live in fear. Others wonder where their loved ones have been taken. This is not what America used to be!
This administration and our Utah Legislature want to sell off our public lands where we go for family recreation. Public lands provide a place in nature for our families to go to maintain physical and emotional well being.
Families need to come first, not the wealthy. They are already secure.
This administration seeks to divide, sow doubt, create fear and incite violence. That is not the America I know and love. We cannot allow Trump to divide our families, our communities, our places of worship, our work places.
We need to seek common ground but when opinions differ, we need to agree to disagree with respect, civility and kindness.
We are so much more alike than different. We love our country, our families, our freedoms. We all desire to have financial stability, food security, affordable health care, to feel safe in our homes and in our neighborhoods, towns and cities.
We share so many hopes and dreams. We need each other. We need to reach out to one another and work together to find solutions to the problems we face. May we all work together to protect human rights and to make and keep our families safe, healthy and thriving. Great things can be accomplished if we work together!
God bless our America!
