EPHRAIM—Clara Campbell, a 2022 Snow College bachelor-of-music graduate, has been accepted into one of the premier U.S. Air Force bands as its sole vocalist.

Clara Campbell, a graduate of the Snow College bachelor’s degree program in music, has been selected as the sole vocalist for the U.S. Air Force band, “The Airmen of Note.”
The band involved, known as “The Airman of Note,” is one of the top service bands in the U.S. military out of the 120 bands in total. It is a jazz ensemble created in 1950 and currently consists of 17 active duty musicians and one vocalist.
Campbell will be complete her degree this summer. She auditioned and was accepted into the band just as the spring semester ended and before she officially graduated. Many who audition have completed graduate degrees in performance and still don’t get accepted.
The Airmen of Note is stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, D.C., but they take annual performing tours all over the world. The band performs at sites of large deployments and in smaller venues to support military and civilian ceremonial and diplomatic events.
The band is well known in the jazz community and has collaborated with jazz artists Dizzy Gillespie, Joe Williams, Sarah Vaughan and Doc Severinsen.
In 1990, the band established the Jazz Heritage Series, featuring the “Note” in concert with legendary jazz artists. The series has been broadcasted to millions over National Public Radio, independent jazz stations, satellite radio and the internet.
