Ally Brotherson from Mt. Pleasant holds a backpack stuffed with a $1000 in cash for winning the Zion Bank’s Fall Student Banking Sweepstakes.

SALT LAKE CITY—Ally Brotherson knew she won a prize though Zions Bank’s Fall Student Banking Sweepstakes, but she didn’t know what that prize was.

So when Brotherson, a University of Utah student from Mt. Pleasant, stopped by the bank on Friday, Nov. 19, she was surprised with a backpack stuffed with $1,000 in cash.

Brotherson’s winning entry was drawn from a pool of more than 2,500 entrants who entered the sweepstakes, along with a winner in Idaho and a second winner in Utah. Teens and young adults ages 15 to 25 were entered into the contest when they opened a Zions Bank checking, savings or Visa credit card account, or mailed in an entry between Aug. 2 and Oct. 1.

Brotherson, who is studying biology, said the prize money will help cover her school expenses.

“We know teens and young adults face unique financial challenges,” said Kelly West, student banking manager for Zions Bank. “We hope this money will help Ally as she pursues her academic and financial goals.”
