Myrtle “Veone” Fjeldsted

Myrtle “Veone” Fjeldsted passed away on May 6, 2026, peacefully in her home in Centerfield, Utah, at the age of 99.

She was born in Axtel, Utah, on July 20, 1926, and grew up there helping her parents on the farm. She graduated from Gunnison High School, where she met and later married her sweetheart Vernile Fjeldsted.

After World War II, they married and honeymooned in LaGrande, Oregon. They loved it so much they spent the rest of their married lives (48 Years) in Oregon, where they raised two beautiful daughters, Diane and Sherrie, until they graduated from high school.

After her husband Vernile passed, she moved back to Centerfield, Utah, where she created a wonderful life surrounded by family and friends.

Veone served in many different capacities throughout her life in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a mission to Chicago, Illinois, and served in the Manti Utah Temple for 17 years. She also worked as a volunteer at the Gunnison Hospital.

Veone lived life to the fullest and loved to be surrounded by family and friends to visit and talk for hours with a presence that always lit up the room. She was a deeply loving mother and cherished grandmother. She adored her grandkids and took an active role in their lives, always present and thoughtful. Her unwavering support and love left a lasting mark on her family.

The family would like to thank the Hospice workers who were so kind and attentive to her during the last year of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 11 a.m. in the Centerfield 1st Ward. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery.
