Mayfield man charged with sexual abuse of children, investigation ongoing
MAYFIELD—A Mayfield man was arrested Aug. 28 after law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence as part of an ongoing Sevier County investigation involving exceptionally serious allegations of sexual abuse of children.
The Richfield City Police Department, assisted by the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office and the Utah Department of Public Safety’s Special Emergency Response Team, executed the warrant at approximately 7 a.m.
When authorities arrived in Mayfield, the suspect was called out of the home and taken into custody without incident.
The man was transported to the Sevier County Jail, where he was booked on four counts of object rape of a child, three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, one count of rape of a child, two counts of forcible sexual abuse and three counts of sodomy on a child.
Authorities did not release the suspect’s name at the time of the arrest. However, public records from the 6th District Court in Richfield and the Sevier County Jail identify the suspect as David N. Beck. A public records search with the Sanpete County Assessor’s Office showed that a David N. Beck is a landowner of a property on 500 North in Mayfield.
Beck’s initial appearance in Richfield was Tuesday. The investigation remains ongoing. All charges are allegations, and Beck is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
