Annual Manti tennis tournament draws 37 players from across Utah

MANTI—Thirty-seven players from across Utah competed in the annual Manti City Fourth of July Tennis Tournament, highlighted by competitive play in both doubles and a singles tiebreaker matchup.

The tournament featured current and former standout players from Manti High School and other Sanpete County programs.

The doubles team of Brad Dyreng and Nate Stewart claimed the championship. Dyreng, a former Manti High School player, and Stewart, a former Gunnison High School standout, defeated the team of Sterling Whipple and Brian Braithwaite in the title match.

Kevin Clark won the tournament’s singles tiebreaker, defeating Brian Braithwaite in the championship match. Clark’s name will be added to the tournament’s rotating trophy.

There was also a mix of men’s, women’s, youth and mixed doubles teams. Michael Shreeve Sr. and Michael Shreeve Jr. captured the championship with a victory over Luke Anderson and Kynlee Kjar in the finals.

Tournament organizers awarded trophies to the champions and runners-up in each division.
