Appreciate voter’s guide, but there were some mistakes
I always appreciate receiving the election guide. It is very helpful in understanding the various candidates’ stance on important issues that affect our lives here in Sanpete County as well as propositions and amendments we will be voting on.
However, I have some concern about the report by the publisher, Suzanne Dean, on the debate between two of the congressional candidates. On the front page of the guide which was included with the newspaper published on Oct 22, 2026, the two candidates were misnamed in the caption below the photo. Jonny Larsen is actually on the left with Rep. Mike Kennedy on the right. That was clarified on page 3.
On page 5 under the title, Immigration, the phrase, “It’s often thought that Democrats don’t care about our borders”, was attributed to Kennedy but obviously it would have been said by Larsen who is the Democrat candidate. In the last two paragraphs on page 5, the concluding statement was attributed to Kennedy but obviously, it was Larsen who made the insulting remark addressed to Republicans, asking “Would you like a blue dog or a lap dog for this administration?”
Voters, please read the information on pages 3, 4 and 6 for much clearer information about all four candidates seeking to represent Sanpete County as our congressman in the new Congressional District Four. Our opinions on the Utah House of Representatives candidates, the candidates for our school boards and Proposition 11, as well as Constitutional Amendments A and B are also extremely important.
Let’s get educated about everything on the ballot and let’s all vote!
